One of the Central Valley Brewers Guild Founders, Mark Ranes, brought home a bronze medal from the 2011 National Homebrewers Conference, recently held in mid-June in San Diego. The bronze medal was for his American Barleywine.  Mark placed 3rd out of 252 strong ale entries from all over the United States and Canada. He also had a spiced beer in the final round, but it didn’t place. Mark was surrounded by CVBG members and supporters at the Grand Banquet and Awards Dinner.
